Dallas Contracting Co., Inc. Completes Dismantlement and Wood Salvage Project

South Plainfield, New Jersey, October, 2004 – Dallas Contracting Co., Inc., a specialized contractor providing demolition, wrecking, dismantlement, onsite concrete crushing, scrap metal recycling and used/surplus equipment sales to the various industries, completed the dismantlement of a three story masonry/brick and wood frame building located in East Newark, New Jersey. The scope of work consisted of:
·Dismantlement and removal of entire building structure down to grade level. The building was over 6,000 square feet and three stories high and was located in a residential area with limited access and staging areas.

·Demolish the foundations three feet below grade
·Fracture the basement floor for water percolation
·Provide all labor, equipment and disposal
·Remove six (6) inch concrete slab at rear of the building and concrete driveway
·Concrete, brick and masonry were sent offsite for recycling
·Scrap metal was sorted onsite into ferrous and non ferrous scrap and then sent offsite for recycling
To offset the cost of the project for the client, Dallas Contracting Co., Inc. carefully dismantled the building to salvage nearly 90% of the wood timbers, beams, rafters, posts and decking. To properly salvage the wood timbers and planking, laborers manually dismantled the building with assistance of several skid steer machines equipped with demolition bucket attachments. The salvaged wood consisted of Heart Pine, Yellow Pine (long and short leaf), Hemlock and Douglas Fir. In total, over 60,000 board feet of wood was salvaged. Dallas Contracting Co., Inc. utilized Legacy Antique Woods located in Honeoye Falls, NY to market and sell the salvage wood materials. The salvaged wood from the building will be

remanufactured into flooring and other millwork products for residential and commercial use.
Equipment and manpower utilized to complete the project included a crew of 6 – 8 employees, a Bobcat 853 skid steer, a CAT 236 skid steer, a Komatsu PC300 excavator and a construction forklift.
The work was completed without incident or accident. Barricades and fencing were utilized around the work site to prevent unauthorized entry. In addition, the local police department was utilized for traffic control when work was near the main street. Dallas Contracting Co., Inc. takes great pride in our safety program and record.
